Degree Course Introduction

An academic degree is a qualification awarded to students upon successful completion of a course of study in higher education, normally at a college or university. These institutions commonly offer degrees at various levels, typically including bachelor’s, master’s and doctorates, often alongside other academic certificates, and professional degrees. The most common undergraduate degree is the Bachelor’s Degree.

A Bachelor’s Degree introduces students to the rudiments of the subject along with a few general subjects in the first two years so as to enable the student to form a suitable foundation. The final two years are involved in the study of core subjects related to the branch that make him a subject expert. The final year also involves an industry training or project that helps students to match classroom learning with industry objectives.

A few students who wish to master a specific area in their undergraduate study opt for the Master’s Degree. This stage of study enables the student to specialize in a particular area of their specialization. The student is expected to prepare and present a thesis on the subject of his choice, the successful clearing of which leads to the award of a Master’s Degree.
