Academic programmes are certainly the backbone of any institution. It is easy to see that if your courses are relevant to present day and age, then institution can easily progress. Innovative courses, as required by the industry, liberal electives, regular academic audit, feedback from both students and the industry, have to be an integral part of the academic structure of an institution. The method employed to deliver academic programmes are also relevant. Teaching must be made participatory. The administration and faculty must constantly update themselves to keep abreast of what is happening around the world. Regular departmental review meeting on academic progress, lecture from industry experts, interdisciplinary programmes and regular course updates in consultation with the industry are the factors support the progress an institution.
At the end of the day, an institution is finally gauged by the performance of its students, both while studying at the institution and after they leave it. Students are the ultimate brand ambassadors of the institute. A good sign, as an institute must committed to equipping its students with the life skills required to adapt to constantly changing world. An institution’s reputation is linked to its alumni reputation. The top institutions of the world have some of the most high profile achievers on its alumni rolls of honour. There is a lot that an institution can achieve through interaction with its former students.
